Nepali Film ‘Himalayan Gold’ Announced – Know Who Are the Cast Members
A new Nepali feature film titled Himalayan Gold has officially been announced under the writing and direction of Dhiraj Rajbanshi. The film was formally launched with a Shubha Muhurat ceremony held at Ganesh Temple, Kamaladi, Kathmandu on Tuesday.
The shooting of the movie is set to begin this coming November (Mangsir) and will portray a story deeply rooted in Nepal’s Himalayan region.
Produced jointly by Chhayanalay Films and White Elephant Motion Pictures, the film features a strong ensemble cast including Karma, Sunil Thapa, Menuka Pradhan, Pariksha Limbu, Sajan Thapa Magar, Ankit Khadka, Sunil Tamang, Tenzing Thakuri, Sabita Adhikari, and Rishikesh Basyal.
According to the makers, Himalayan Gold aims to present a story of life’s struggle, courage, and hope, set against the majestic backdrop of the Himalayas.
Set in the year 1992, the film follows the journey of a young village girl who climbs the Himalayas in search of Yarsagumba (a rare medicinal herb), only to encounter a ruthless group of robbers.
Director Rajbanshi explained that the Himalayan region will not just serve as a scenic backdrop but will be portrayed as a living, breathing character within the story itself.
The film’s cinematography will be handled by Vashishtha Pradhan, an Indian cinematographer of Nepali origin. He has previously worked as an assistant cinematographer on films like Kalank, Lust Stories 2, Suspect, and Adbhut. With experience in over a dozen Indian advertisements and music videos, Himalayan Gold marks his first feature film as a lead cinematographer.
With its gripping storyline, powerful performances, and breathtaking visuals from the Himalayas, Himalayan Gold is expected to deliver a cinematic experience that blends adventure, emotion, and realism.
