Laxman Rizal Announces Directorial Comeback with ‘Kaji‘ – A Social Love Story
After nearly eight years away from the director’s chair, filmmaker Laxman Rizal has officially announced his return with the much-anticipated Nepali movie Kaji. The team formally launched the project by performing a traditional camera and script worship ceremony (muhoorth) at the holy Dakshinkali Temple on Friday, Bhadra 6, 2082.
The event marked not only the beginning of production but also the revival of Rizal’s directorial journey, which had been on pause since his last feature nearly a decade ago. Speaking about the project, Rizal expressed that he had been waiting for the right story, and Kaji finally gave him the motivation to step back into filmmaking.
Filming to Begin in Syangja
The production team will officially begin shooting Kaji on Bhadra 8 in Syangja, constructing an entire village set to provide the film with an authentic backdrop. This significant investment reflects the makers’ determination to create a visually compelling cinematic experience.

Kaji is being produced under the banner of R & R Production, with Ram Prasad Rizal serving as producer. The film will feature some of the most celebrated names in the Nepali film industry. Popular actor Bipin Karki takes on a leading role, alongside Keki Adhikari and Garima Sharma, who are both expected to deliver powerful performances.

Shree Ram Balaji Films, led by Sunil Manandhar, will distribute the movie.
Rizal’s Cinematic Journey
Laxman Rizal is no stranger to Nepali cinema. Over the years, he has directed films like Kasam, Dhūvā Yo Nasā, Alvida, and Kayra. As a producer, he has backed titles such as December Falls and Ganpati. With Kaji, Rizal aims to build upon his past experiences while correcting the shortcomings he sees in his earlier projects.
A Social Love Story with Depth
Described as a social love story, Kaji promises to explore themes rooted in everyday realities while blending emotional depth with entertainment. According to the makers, the film is not just about romance but also highlights the struggles and values of Nepali society.
Conclusion
With a strong cast, a dedicated crew, and a director eager to make a statement after years of silence, Kaji is already generating buzz within the Nepali film community.
