New Nepali Movie Project ‘Panch Pandav’ Announced: From Haribansha to Deepa Shree in the Cast

A new Nepali movie titled ‘Panch Pandav‘ has officially begun its journey with a muhurat ceremony held on Tuesday morning at Ganesh Temple, Kamaladi, Kathmandu. During the event, the film’s lead cast members were also introduced.

The film, directed by Basant Niraula, features an ensemble cast including Haribansha Acharya, Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus), Jitu Nepal (Mundre), Sagar Lamsal (Bale), Deepa Shree Niraula, and Rajani Gurung in major roles.

Although the title Panch Pandav is inspired by the five Pandavas from the Hindu epic Mahabharat, director Niraula clarified that the story is not religious. He explained that the film will be a complete family entertainer with a strong dose of humor and emotion. The story will revolve around five male characters, representing the modern version of Panch Pandav, with one character’s identity yet to be revealed.

The film is set to begin shooting from Mangsir (November/December). The story, screenplay, and dialogue have been written by Sushil Poudel, a journalist and writer known for penning both installments of Prasad.

Panch Pandav will be produced by Naveen Shrestha, who previously produced Laaj Sharanam, with Kali Rani Shrestha assisting in production.

Initially, there were reports that Deepak Raj Giri and Kedar Ghimire (Magne Buda) would also join the cast. Deepak was even involved in early discussions about the script. However, both ultimately opted out of the project, reportedly because they are busy preparing for Chhakka Panja 6.

With such a strong team and some of Nepal’s most beloved comedy stars coming together, Panch Pandav is already one of the most anticipated Nepali films of the coming year.
